PROCESS
The forms I create start with a master from which I cast a plaster mold.
The process I use to create the surface designs is paper resist. This is a form of stencilling and involves laying newsprint on areas of the design that I don’t want overlaid with colour.
Once this process is over and the clay surface is completely dry, I carve into the clay to create marks and texture.
Because my pieces are created as decorative objects, they are not glazed, but finished with a lacquer that protects the surface.
